Requests for clemency are handled through the Office of Executive Clemency with the Colorado Department of Corrections. The governor of Colorado has the power to grant clemency. There are two types of clemency: a commutation is modification of a sentence, and a pardon is public forgiveness of a crime. Click on the website link to learn more about the commute and pardon process. On this page, you'll also find links to eligibility criteria and the application.
