Breakthrough is 501c3 non-profit organization that prides itself in transforming the lives of people with criminal histories and the community’s perception of the incarcerated population. Our holistic approach includes an in-facility career education program, community engagement, re-entry support, a fair opportunity (chance) hiring program, and criminal justice advocacy initiatives. We believe in humans, and in our shared humanity because we know that every person deserves to be seen, heard, and challenged to rise above their past to break through to a better tomorrow. Through compassion, connection, and community, we empower individuals who have been incarcerated to embrace new possibilities and realize their true potential. At this time, Breakthrough only offers reentry care management services to our program graduates. If you are a Breakthrough (formerly Defy Colorado) graduate and released from prison, please contact us to learn more about the type of help we offer on the outside. If you are not a Breakthrough graduate, but looking for community support we encourage you to join us at Circle of Hope, a peer led program designed to support participants in fostering self-freeing beliefs, resilience, and self-care through peer support. The program aims to explore various growth topics each week, such as mindset, fear of failure, and imposter syndrome, to help participants develop a growth-oriented mindset.
