The CO ID Project can help with getting identification documents, including ordering birth certificates from other states. You may apply by phone at 303-837-1313 x444 or online using the link below. You may also walk in and usually be seen that day. Vouchers may also be obtained in-person M-F 8:30am-5pm.

A DD-214, or Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, can be of help when you’re applying for another identification card. For example, a DD-214 is one of the secondary documents accepted by the Vital Records Office for applying for a birth certificate. The National Archives website is the place to order a copy of a DD-214. You can do this online or by mail. Click on Request Military Service Records, then start the form online. In most cases, this copy is free. You may also be able to get help ordering a copy of your DD-214 through some of the Veteran agencies.

Mobile ID unit
Statewide
DMV2GO is a mobile ID unit developed by the Division of Motor Vehicles. The unit visits all parts of Colorado to help people get an ID, including jails, prison, shelters, and other locations. In Denver, they currently visit Saint Francis Center in the United Way building on the second Tuesday of every month, Urban Peak on the second Monday of every month, and the Denver Rescue Mission men's shelter on east 48th Avenue the third Thursday of each month.

Holy Ghost Church in Denver helps with birth certificates, divorce decrees, and CO state ID and driver’s licenses. The office is in the basement of the church. Walk-ins are welcome.

Metro Caring has an ID program that can help with vouchers for in-state driver’s licenses, state IDs, and birth certificates. You can also get help with out-of-state birth certificates by calling 720-343-8466 on Tuesdays at noon and leave a message with your name, phone number, and state of birth.
