VA Healthcare

You may qualify for health care benefits from the US Department of Veterans Affairs if you served in the active military and have a discharge status other than dishonorable. If you don’t qualify for VA Healthcare, see the Remerg.com Health Section to find where you can get help.

4 Ways to Learn About Eligibility and Enroll

1. Walk into a VA hospital and the clinics and ask about your eligibility. The hospitals in Denver and Grand Junction and the clinics in Colorado Springs, Golden, and Pueblo can enroll you on the spot. Other clinics can provide eligibility information.

2. Go online to the VA website to apply for health care. If you don’t have a computer, the library has computers for the public. If you can’t use public libraries due to your crime, you can use the Workforce Center computers. Click below to apply online.

3. Call 1-877-222-8387 M-F: 8am – 8pm Eastern Time and ask. If you want a paper copy of the application they can mail you one.

4. Write to the Health Eligibility Center, Enrollment Eligibility Division, 2957 Clairmont Road, Suite 200, Atlanta, GA 30329-1647

Vet Centers

There are six Vet Centers in Colorado for people seeking treatment for combat trauma such as PTSD or sexual assault while in the military. Vet Centers have counselors, support groups, accept walk-ins, and can help with resources. You will probably see someone within an hour of walking in. Vet Centers keep your records separate from the VA in order to protect your anonymity.

When you go to a Vet Center for help, you are documenting a need for treatment. This documentation may help you later on if you file for service-connected benefits. Vet Centers are located in Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, Grand Junction, and Pueblo. Click on the button below for a list of Vet Centers.
