Disability Benefits

Many incarcerated people report having at least one disability. A disability can be physical such as being handicapped or blind or deaf. A disability can also be intellectual or developmental. (If you were ever in a special education class or had an individual education program, called an IEP, when you were in school, you may qualify as having an intellectual or developmental disability.) A disability can also include having a spinal cord injury, or brain injury, or major mental illness. If you have a disability and want to know whether you qualify for benefits such as a Medicaid waiver, start by talking to the Community Centered Board in your area. There are 20 Community Centered Boards throughout Colorado. Click on the button below to see a map and list of the boards. Call and ask for an appointment.
